Attacks on the Ron Paul campaign

The Bullies That Be -- Attacks on Ron Paul et al

--  Over the past week, Ron Paul supporters and delegates alike have been taking a beating from the bullies that make up law enforcement, the Republican National Committee or Mainstream Media. The main protocol for these bullies throughout the entire campaign has been to disparage and belittle the Ron Paul campaign and their supporters.

With all the smug and arrogant commentary and coverage, there have been some superficial acknowledgements of respect toward Ron Paul, but all in all, if these tactics did not work, things were set to get much uglier. And after this week there are signs of much more to come.

Ron Paul supporters are now organizing a massive event on the eve of the RNC to celebrate their ideas and Paul’s 77th birthday. Not just a political rally, Paul Festival will be three days of music, entertainment and activism featuring nationally-known musicians, comedians and other entertainers.”
This festival obviously poses a direct threat against the Republican National Convention (RNC)  because it refuses to join in union with a corrupt and fraudulent party that has tried everything short of throwing the kitchen sink at derailing Ron Paul and his campaign.  Also take the following facts into note:
  • Just a few days after the media erroneously reported that Ron Paul had dropped out of the presidential race, he won 80% of the delegates going to the RNC from Minnesota.”

  • Even After Texas Primary, Romney Will Remain The 'Presumptive' Nominee
This article lays out that Romney has not secured the full delegates needed to sweep the RNC for a nomination. “Worse yet, there are an undetermined number of delegates that
are bound to him that are actually Paul supporters – and who would abandon him and vote for Paul if Romney failed to get 1,144 votes on the first ballot.”

With these facts on the table, it should not be a surprise to see the following events occur over the last few days:

Republican Party blocking massive Ron Paul event in Tampa?
Paul Festival 2012 would run from Aug. 24 to 26, ending the day before the convention begins. Details like ticket prices and who would be on stage have not been announced, but the festival could draw 20,000 or more people a day, estimated Deborah Robinet, an organizer who lives near San Diego.

It was reported locally in Tampa on May 23rd that both Paul Festival organizer Deborah Robinet and fairgrounds director of sales and marketing Terry Parnell expected to sign a contract that week. However, Robinet told supporters in an e-mail last night that the RNC “had blocked our attempt.”

Police assault and arrest Ron Paul supporters in Louisiana
Several supporters of Rep. Ron Paul sustained injuries while being arrested during the Louisiana Republican Party’s state convention over the weekend, in a conflict that engulfed the meeting after Paul’s supporters overwhelmed other delegates and voted in new leadership, only to be ignored.

Outraged at the party’s refusal to hear Helwig, Ron Paul delegates at the convention demanded that Villere be replaced by a chairman that would abide by the GOP’s rules. Several Paul supporters then opted to elect a new chairman on the spot: fellow Paul campaigner Henry Herford Jr. Once again, Villere refused to acknowledge the party’s vote and carried on with the convention much to the chagrin of the split GOP. Continuing on their own, however, the new sanction of the state Republican Party turned their chairs and began a convention of their own — until police returned.”

Bottom line

We cannot allow this bullying to continue. As of today, June 7, there still is no word on whether the RNC will choose to allow the festival to go on, but with the tensions rising between Paul supporters and RNC loyalists, the drama will definitely not let up here.

It is time to initiate phone calls and emails to the RNC and ask for an end to this bullying and demand a quick approval of this festival:
