Israeli harassment

From Harry Fear

On the supposed 'ceasefire breach' last night: a summary update
Harry Fear

Reputable local news organisations and Palestinian journalists reported that an Israeli tank shell injured 4 in East Deir Al-Balah, Middle Gaza Strip at 10pm (local). I reported this and further details from these sources, including the nature of the sustained injuries.

During the night two international journalists brought doubt up
on the notion of it having been a tank shelling, suggesting that it could have been a fuel tank explosion. I can confirm that this incident was definitely not a benzine tank explosion or similar.

We have investigated, spoken to injured persons, as well as witnesses and residents. The incident was either a fresh attack (further ceasefire breach) or an incident from Operation Pillar of Cloud:

* Fresh attack by tank shell (initially reported universally in Gaza)
* Explosion of previously-unexploded bomb from Pillar of Cloud
* Fresh attack by drone strike
* Fresh attack by new military aircraft like F15

Photo: the site of the incident, with a destroyed subterranean water solid-state tank in a residential farming area, hundreds of metres from the border with Israel.

Our investigation of the scene and our interviewing of the witnesses constituted the only on-the-ground journalistic enquiry into what happened.

Dedicated to the sufferers of constant harassment under Israeli occupation in the West Bank of Palestine.

On our way home with video evidence of threatened violence by Israeli soldiers
"Move from here or I will shoot you": Israeli soldier harassing us through the fence, shooting in the air. We're on Palestinian territory.
"It is very painful to see; this is our land": guide
We are at the border looking through the fence at Israel, seeing the tractors, forests, modern roads, hamlets, Israeli military jeeps
Our guide indicates land on the Israeli side of the border that is owned by his great-grandparents that was stolen when Israel was made
Residents report regular harassment after sundown: shooting, explosions; they think, to deter border approachers at night.
F16s overhead in Eastern Deir al-Balah as we investigate
"We are farmers; there is no real ceasefire by Israel": Mohammad, brother of injured Ahmed al-Loh
