Any time we have a major incident of the magnitude of what happened in Paris today, inevitably there follows the usual theorizing. One common "theory" that I hear almost every time is that the "shooting was staged" and "they were crisis actors" and "the whole thing never happened."

I have many ideas as to why some of these memes become so prevalent in the alternative media world. Below is an excerpt of a conversation i had with a friend and colleague. This is me *thinking out loud* NOT making definitive statements:

I think they [intelligence and/or law enforcement] may have actually staged some low profile incidents of shootings or explosions for the purposes of leaving that thread for the Alex Joneses of the world...they know they only have to do it once before AJ & Co call false flag on *every* single incident. By doing that, they achieve multiple objectives simultaneously:

1. They divide the alt media community into "cranks" and "shills," "nuts" and "gatekeepers".

2. It discredits any non-MSM investigation of the incident.

3. It forces those with brains to devote their energy to the conspiracy itself, as opposed to the agenda behind it and impetus for it. In other words, it paralyzes opposition and organizing.

4. It purposely muddies the discussion of ALL false flags - a very real and very dangerous phenomenon.

5. It attracts all the worst elements of the internet including racists & bigots, reactionary militaristic scumbags, and both paid and unpaid online trolls. This makes discussion, discourse, and info-sharing almost impossible in a meaningful way.

i think it's part of a very well orchestrated and researched "system" for subverting unsanctioned information.
